Anatomy & Cell Biology Scientific Image Contest: Winners Announced!

Published: 22 August 2024

This summer, department members participated in our inaugural Scientific Image Contest: "Life Magnified: An Anatomy and Cell Biology Exploration."听

This contest invited all faculty, researchers, postdoctoral fellows, and research students associated with the department听to showcase the beauty and complexity of anatomy, cell biology and macromolecular structures through compelling images. The goal of this contest is to illuminate the aesthetic aspects of scientific research, celebrating how the structures and processes within anatomy and cell biology can be visualized in enlightening and visually stunning ways.听

Department members were asked to submit images under three categories:听Microscopic Marvels,Anatomical Wonders,听andCellular Landscapes.听The Department anonymously voted on all submissions, and the winners were announced at the 2024 ACB Research Retreat. The winning images, seen below, are also displayed on the main floor of the Strathcona Anatomy & Dentistry Building.听

Microscopic Marvels:听Images showcasing the detailed world under the electron microscope, including macromolecules, cellular structures, tissues, and more.
