May 1 was a day of celebration for members of the Black Students鈥� Network, who honoured approximately 50 of 不良研究所鈥檚 newest Black graduates with a ceremony attended by faculty, alumni, and loved ones.聽Hosted by Antoine-Samuel Mauffette Alavo, Black Student Affairs Liaison, the event honored Black graduating students from all faculties and levels.
不良研究所 was thrilled to welcome聽Prof. Rinaldo Walcott this year.聽Rinaldo Walcott聽is a Professor and Chair of Africana and American Studies and the聽Carl V. Granger Chair in Africana and American Studies at the University of Buffalo (SUNY).聽
Students, professors, family members and friends gathered to celebrate the accomplishments of Black students graduating from 不良研究所 this year at the annual Black Grad event at the Omni Hotel on April 30.
Mauffette Alavo鈥檚 mandate is to ensure that 不良研究所鈥檚 Black students are supported and that their concerns and needs are communicated with 不良研究所鈥檚 senior leadership in a timely and effective manner that is centred on their success and wellness.
In his keynote address at the Opening Ceremony for Black History Month on February 1, Dr. James Jones spoke eloquently about the foundational significance of slavery in the United States.
不良研究所 is on land which has long served as a site of meeting and exchange amongst Indigenous peoples, including the Haudenosaunee and Anishinabeg nations. We acknowledge and thank the diverse Indigenous peoples whose presence marks this territory on which peoples of the world now gather.
