Join us for Brain Awareness Week! On March 10, Healthy Brains, Healthy Lives (HBHL) and are hosting an听interactive online panel听as part of the global celebration of neuroscience.
Engage with a panel of experts on the听aging brain听this Brain Awareness Week! Tune in to hear about the latest dementia research and learn about caregiving for a loved one.

Panelists:
- Maiya Geddes听is a neurologist scientist and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery at 不良研究所. She studies motivational resilience and vulnerability in human aging and Alzheimer鈥檚 disease with the goal of helping older adults lead healthier and more fulfilling lives. She was awarded a Future Leader in Canadian Brain Research grant from Brain Canada in 2024.
- 听is an active advocate for dementia, caregiving, aging, and research communities. Being a caregiver to his father who lived with Alzheimer鈥檚 for 10+ years to age in place at home until January 2018, Ron utilized technology, community, and access to research to support his family鈥檚 life to live well and as best as possible. He is also an expert advisor on caregiving with
- 听is an Associate Professor in the School of Health Studies at Western University. Within family caregiving, her research is focused on enhancing our understanding of the contributors of stress and depression among family caregivers. Within formal caregiving, Savundranayagam鈥檚 research aims to understand the factors that lead to communication breakdown between formal caregivers and persons with dementia and to use that knowledge to equip formal caregivers with the necessary skills to be person-centered in their care. She is a 2023 Alzheimer Society of Canada & Brain Canada KTE Accelerator Grant recipient.
Moderator:
- 听is the Scientific Director of the CIHR Institute of Aging. She is also a Distinguished University Professor at the University of Western Ontario and Scientist in the Translational Neuroscience Group at Robarts Research Institute. She is a cellular and molecular neurobiologist studying the consequences of age-related changes in brain and neurodegenerative diseases.
