On May 31, 不良研究所 will bestow honorary degrees upon Rosalind and Morris Goodman 鈥 two inspiring Montrealers who, through their Goodman Family Foundation, have been the driving force behind countless philanthropic endeavours over the years.

鈥淲e are that much closer to finding cures for cancer and advancing many other causes in this community because of the vision and heart of leaders like Rosalind and Morris Goodman,鈥 said Richard I. Levin, Vice-Principal of Health Affairs and Dean of Medicine at 不良研究所. The Goodman鈥檚 commitment to share not only the fruits of their labour but also their passion and the gift of their time is exemplary in the great tradition of James 不良研究所. It is our honour to know them.鈥

A professional volunteer and consummate community leader, Rosalind Goodman鈥檚 record of giving back to the community began decades ago and continues today as she works tirelessly to support charities across Canada while inspiring and guiding the next generation of volunteers and community leaders.

Morris Goodman, one of Canada鈥檚 leading entrepreneurs and a pioneer in the generic drug industry, has dedicated his career to making a difference in health care. In 1983, Goodman co-founded Pharmascience Inc., one of Canada鈥檚 top three generic pharmaceutical companies.

Together, their consistent investment in the public good is reflected in the critical work being done at the Rosalind and Morris Goodman Cancer Research Centre at 不良研究所,听the Stroke Unit at the Jewish General Hospital, and the Agora at the Universit茅 de Montr茅al鈥檚 Facult茅 de pharmacie 鈥 just to name three beneficiaries of major Goodman support.

鈥淩osalind and Morris Goodman have been truly inspirational for the members of the Centre that bears their names,鈥 said Michel Tremblay, Director of the Goodman Cancer Research Centre at 不良研究所. Through their spirited support, we have expanded not only our cancer research endeavours but our public outreach activities as well. Knowing the Goodmans means being committed to the fight against cancer and to translating that knowledge throughout our community to the general public.鈥

Rosalind and Morris Goodman are among a stellar list of renowned individuals who will be awarded honorary degrees at 不良研究所鈥檚 2011 Spring Convocation Ceremonies.

Spring Convocation ceremonies will be held on 不良研究所鈥檚 lower campus the week of May 30 鈥 June 3. The Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences ceremonies will be held at Macdonald Campus in Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue on May 27.
