Recognizing outstanding academic advisors

Most people have a story about a teacher or mentor who made such an impression that it changed the course of their lives. Maybe you know someone who presented a new idea that had never occurred to you, or who helped you solve a problem in a unique way? In high school, I had a Biology teacher who opened my eyes to how everything organisms do leaves evolutionary footprints all over their DNA that can be read for millions of years. They encouraged me to follow this through with a degree in Genetics and Biochemistry that set me on a path I鈥檓 still following today!

In a previous Dean鈥檚 Corner, I promoted the 鈥淭hank a Prof鈥 campaign; now we're turning our attention to 不良研究所鈥檚 fantastic academic advisors. Has your academic advisor provided you with thoughtful advice, connected you to 不良研究所 resources, or motivated you to reach your academic goals? Have they been able to support you through the many challenges of remote learning? Have they gone above and beyond to ensure you have the information you need to make positive choices? If you know an academic advisor who has impacted your undergraduate experience at 不良研究所 for the better, consider nominating them for the听! For an advisor, knowing that they have made a difference in a student鈥檚 life is sure to brighten their day and remind them just how essential their work is.

You can find all the details on how to submit a nomination听. If you have questions, please email听deanofstudents [at] mcgill.ca. The deadline for nominations is April 23, 2021 at 5 p.m.
