On October 25 we welcomed alumni back to campus to celebrate 不良研究所鈥檚 Homecoming 2024. The day started with Professor Christophe Bedos giving the Sustainability Dentistry and 不良研究所 masterclass to present his project assessing current carbon footprints in dental medicine, and how to move the Faculty towards the goal of becoming one of the first fully sustainable dental medicine faculties in the world. He stated that sustainability in the Faculty and in dental clinics starts first with creating a culture supporting the goal of becoming sustainable, through the elaboration of sustainability processes and roadmaps, evaluating the transportation of people and goods and the consumption of electricity and water, ethical procurement, and optimizing waste. Following the masterclass, the Faculty held its One Big Community Cocktail on the premises of the Undergraduate Teaching Clinic. Alumni from across Canada and beyond gathered to Dental Medicine alumni and friends gathered for a memorable celebration, sharing stories, reminiscing about their experiences, and enjoying plenty of laughter. We welcomed back alumni celebrating a class reunion with years ending in 鈥�4鈥� and 鈥�9鈥�, including the DDS class of 1989 (pictured above). Associate Dean, Clinical Affairs Dr. Nathalie Morin gave a guided tour of the clinic and simulation lab. For some it was a revisit to the place where they greeted their first patients, while for others it was the first time they saw our current clinical facilities since the move from the Strathcona Dentistry and Anatomy building in 2014.
The Faculty of Dental Medicine and Oral Health Sciences highlighted the strong bonds within the community, bringing together old friends and colleagues to celebrate their shared journey in dentistry.
