Over the past weeks the Faculty has held its first two Clinical Education Courses led by Dr. . These meetings marked the inauguration of our newly formed Faculty development initiative. The two seminars, 鈥淗ow to manage the needy student鈥 and 鈥淗ow to approach the unprepared student鈥, were wildly successful with over 50 and 44 participants respectively. "This is by far the largest and most enthusiastic group we have ever attracted to session on clinical teaching," says Dr. Jeff Myers, Associate Dean Clinical Affairs. 鈥淭he meeting was lively, participative and generated lots of useful strategies for enhancing our students' learning experience.听 More than anything, it demonstrated the important role of our part-time clinical instructors and their commitment to turning out the best dentists." Dr. Hovey provided a brief educational theory to substantiate the approaches to teaching and learning. The participants then broke out into small working groups and reconvened for a final discussion. 鈥淚t is our hope that this faculty development initiation will make us better teachers and allow us to enrich the experience 不良研究所 Faculty of Dentistry gives our students鈥, says Dr. Earl Karanofsky.
