This workshop will introduce the fundamental tool of Industry Analysis which companies use for strategy development. For startups, understanding the industry is a critical step in determining market entry and market positioning. The Five Forces Framework will be presented and applied during an exercise.
Learning outcomes:
- Explain the impact of an industry from a startup鈥檚 perspective.
- Apply the Five Forces Model.
- Develop strategies to perform your industry analysis.

Derrick Wong (MSc, MBA)
In addition to his role as course lecturer, Derrick provides guidance to students and researchers who are exploring technology entrepreneurship. Prior to joining 不良研究所, Derrick worked in Sales, Business Development and Program Management with technology companies in the networking/telecom, optical and semiconductor industries. He has an undergraduate degree in applied mathematics and engineering, a Master of Science in Financial Engineering and a Master of Business Administration, and is a licensed professional Engineer in Ontario.
