The momentum for embracing Indigenous philosophies and promoting strategic practices is evident across universities in Canada. Let us commit to these support reconciliatory efforts that work for both Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples as we learn to walk and grow together. What are some of the strategies that universities聽have engaged聽in to ensure that Indigenous philosophies and practices that support and lead reconciliation efforts? These critical points will be shared in this talk to support the leadership efforts that Universities are advancing. Dr. Laara Fitznor (Ed.D, Ontario Institute for Studies in Education) will share her observations and experiences of working as an Academic Scholar (36 years) to move these ideas and practices forward amidst both challenging and positive times.

Dr. Fitznor is a member聽of the Nisichawaysihk Cree Nation in Northern Manitoba, Canada, and was raised in the boreal forests around the lakes and river systems in Wabowden. Her academic experience includes the University of Manitoba, University of Toronto, and has published numerous scholarly articles and book chapters on Indigenous knowledge integration.聽
