Current research:
My research centers on understanding the interaction between pathogens and biological fluids, particularly mucin gels, and modeling the effect of such interactions on population-level disease dynamics. Experimental approaches to do so include characterizing the effect of mucin barriers on the transport and infectivity of respiratory pathogens, and mechanically characterizing mucin gels under different biochemical conditions to improve our understanding of the physicochemical properties of this barrier. In the long term, developing mucin-mimetic materials for pathogen sequestration is of interest. |
