Physiology Seminar: The role of astrocytes in stress-induced behavioural dysfunction

Friday, December 9, 2022 11:00to12:00
McIntyre Medical Building 1034, 3655 promenade Sir William Osler, Montreal, QC, H3G 1Y6, CA

I will present our research, which focuses on astrocytes, how stress directly affects these brain cells, and how this in turn influences behaviour. Our data shows that early-life stress induces persistent behavioural changes into adolescence and young-adulthood. These behavioural changes are associated with cellular modifications, which are pronounced in astrocytes in several brain regions including the amygdala, hypothalamus, and hippocampus. Our work now aims to target stress signalling directly in astrocytes, to determine whether astrocytes represent a therapeutic strategy for stress-induced behavioural dysfunction

This seminar will take place both in-person and online, Details in attached poster
