Join the SPGH Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Anti-Racism Standing Committee for a special event celebrating Asian heritage with a screening of Big Fight in Little Chinatown, a powerful documentary by Karen Cho. The film explores how Chinatowns across North America are confronting displacement and gentrification while showcasing community resistance and resilience. Set against the backdrop of the COVID pandemic and an unprecedented rise in anti-Asian racism, the documentary takes us into the lives of residents, businesses and community organizers whose neighborhoods are facing active erasure. Following the screening, there will be a panel discussion on the themes of the film, community advocacy, and the future of cultural spaces. A light dinner will be provided.
