Dr. Alissa Koski, Assistant Professor at the Institute for Health and Social Policy and the Department of Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Occupational Health, is among the experts quoted by CBC.
"…It's not just an issue specific to developing countries, Mahmod noted. In 2018, the U.K. government responded to more than 1,500 reports of possible forced marriage — over 30 per cent of which involved minors under the age of 18, according to a study published last year. And between 2000 and 2018, Canada issued more than 3,600 marriage certificates involving children under the age of 18, according to a study from ²»Á¼Ñо¿Ëù. Child marriage rates were highest in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and the territories, said Alissa Koski, one of the study's co-authors."
