Program Requirements

The non-credit Certificate of Proficiency in Written French - Workplace Communication is designed to offer an intense training in written French as a Second/Foreign Language, from the mid-intermediate to the advanced level. For each level, the program includes specific language objectives, various forms of writing commonly used in the workplace, and strategies for effective written communication. It is designed for the acquisition of the linguistic, communicative, and pragmatic competency needed in workplace contexts, and comprises a stringent pedagogical follow-up. The program’s three levels are compatible with national and international frameworks of reference for languages, such as the Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB), the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) Proficiency Guidelines, and the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

    Overview

    French (CCE) : Designed for students at a mid-intermediate level wishing to improve their grammatical accuracy in written communication for the workplace at that level. Explores French grammatical rules, thematic vocabulary, and self-correction strategies through a variety of exercises and writing tasks embedded in common work-related situations.

Explores the appropriate use of French grammar at the sentence level, thematic vocabulary and self correction strategies through a variety of learning activities embedded in common work related situations.

Explores the appropriate use of French grammar at the complex sentence level, thematic vocabulary and self correction strategies through a wide range of learning activities embedded in various work related situations.

    Overview

    French (CCE) : Designed for students at a high-intermediate level wishing to develop their writing skills at that level. Broadens the scope of written communication through the study of vocabulary and its function in discourse. Identifies the nature and role of words, phrases and idioms through intense practice of vocabulary in workplace contexts.

  • CFRN 415 French Writing Techniques for Workplace (8 CE units)

    Overview

    French (CCE) : Designed for students at an advanced level wishing to develop their writing skills at that level. Explores French syntax and various techniques for text organization, coherence, conciseness and clarity through individual and collaborative work on different forms of writing commonly used in the workplace.

    Terms: This course is not scheduled for the 2013-2014 academic year.

  • CFRN 416 French Written Communication Strategies for Workplace (8 CE units)

    Overview

    French (CCE) : Designed for students at an advanced level wishing to develop their writing skills at that level. Explores French syntax and various strategies for style, tone, nuance, purpose and audience through individual and collaborative work on different forms of writing commonly used in the workplace.
