Professor Ehrlicher's project aims to explore how mechanical forces, such as compression of the nucleus, affect cellular aging and stem cell differentiation, particularly in Hutchinson-Gilford Progeria Syndrome (HGPS). In HGPS, accelerated aging and organ defects occur, including impaired fat tissue differentiation. Researchers found that nucleus compression activates Yes Associated Protein (YAP), which slows aging and promotes bone formation from stem cells.
Mon, 17 Feb 2025 14:04:56 +0000 admin 3744 at /wie о iGEM Achieves Gold Medal and Three Nominations at the Grand Jamboree /wie/channels/news/mcgill-igem-achieves-gold-medal-and-three-nominations-grand-jamboree-362368
о IGEM team proudly secured a gold medal along with three nominations for Best Diagnostics, Best Software, and Best Parts Collection at the International Genetically Engineered Machine (iGEM) Grand Jamboree in October 2024.
