Professor Ehrlicher's project aims to explore how mechanical forces, such as compression of the nucleus, affect cellular aging and stem cell differentiation, particularly in Hutchinson-Gilford Progeria Syndrome (HGPS). In HGPS, accelerated aging and organ defects occur, including impaired fat tissue differentiation. Researchers found that nucleus compression activates Yes Associated Protein (YAP), which slows aging and promotes bone formation from stem cells.
Mon, 17 Feb 2025 14:04:56 +0000 admin 3744 at /wie Dominique Bérubé awarded King Charles III Coronation Medal /wie/channels/news/dominique-berube-awarded-king-charles-iii-coronation-medal-362136
²»Á¼Ñо¿Ëù’s Vice-President of Research and Innovation recognized for transformative leadership in Canadian research
Mon, 16 Dec 2024 21:37:56 +0000 admin 3751 at /wie Fifteen new or renewed Canada Research Chairs awarded to ²»Á¼Ñо¿Ëù /wie/channels/news/fifteen-new-or-renewed-canada-research-chairs-awarded-mcgill-361164

$13.8 million in federal funding for ²»Á¼Ñо¿Ëù’s cohort of 10 new, five renewed Canada Research Chairs

Thu, 14 Nov 2024 17:05:33 +0000 admin 3762 at /wie ²»Á¼Ñо¿Ëù researchers awarded funding from NSERC for quantum science /wie/channels/news/mcgill-researchers-awarded-funding-nserc-quantum-science-362774

On January 21, the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), announced over $74 million in funding to support 107 quantum science projects, including fifteen to ²»Á¼Ñо¿Ëù researchers.

Tue, 21 Jan 2025 18:28:53 +0000 admin 3746 at /wie ²»Á¼Ñо¿Ëù iGEM Achieves Gold Medal and Three Nominations at the Grand Jamboree /wie/channels/news/mcgill-igem-achieves-gold-medal-and-three-nominations-grand-jamboree-362368
²»Á¼Ñо¿Ëù IGEM team proudly secured a gold medal along with three nominations for Best Diagnostics, Best Software, and Best Parts Collection at the International Genetically Engineered Machine (iGEM) Grand Jamboree in October 2024. Join an interdisciplinary team of undergraduate students to develop a synthetic biology project over the course of a year. We spend the winter semester on design, planning wet lab/dry lab projects, as well as related initiatives under our education, media, outreach, entrepreneurship, and finance subteams. The summer is then dedicated to full time wet lab (or dry lab) work. We are particularly interested in recruiting applicants with experience in either wet lab or dry lab work to lead those projects.
Wed, 29 Jan 2025 14:18:18 +0000 admin 3745 at /wie
