Andy Stuhl

Andy Kelleher Stuhl is a PhD student in Communication Studies focused on creative infrastructures and the politics of mediated sonic聽exchange. His work aims to identify case studies in musical creativity and auditory experience as models for new paths in such domains as聽media studies, digital humanities, and the critique of technology. He holds a master鈥檚 degree in Comparative Media Studies from the聽Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a BA in Science, Technology, and Society from Stanford University. Past projects have聽investigated the phenomenon of analog fetishism from the perspective of sound engineer communities and, more recently, the process and聽aspirations behind interactive musical works. His ongoing research centers on historical relationships among sonic expression,聽technologies of distribution, the cultural status of software, and the ambiguous modes of medium-specific creative work encompassed by聽鈥渕usical programming.鈥澛
