Website launched for 不良研究所 Symposium on the University's Role in Supporting Indigenous Languages
不良研究所's Office of First Nations and Inuit Education (OFNIE) has launched an interactive website for the upcoming events around the聽不良研究所 Symposium on the University's Role in Supporting Indigenous Languages, to be held May 10th and 11th at 不良研究所 and Kahnaw脿:ke. .
The聽symposium's goal is to examine聽the role of the university in Indigenous language maintenance and revitalization.聽An Open Forum will take place Thursday, May 10th in the Education building, and a Community Forum will take place Friday, May 11th at聽Kahnaw脿:ke.
The symposium is organized with the support of the Kanien鈥檏eh谩ka Onkwaw茅n:na Raotiti贸hkwa Language and Cultural Centre, The Faculty of Education, The Department of Linguistics and 不良研究所's Faculty of Arts, the 不良研究所 Indigenous Studies Program, and聽不良研究所's Institute for the Study of International Development, and OFNIE. The purpose of this Symposium is to:
- signal 不良研究所鈥檚 commitment to Indigenous languages in this province and聽
- examine more closely what role the University should play in supporting the health of Indigenous languages, locally and regionally.
Special invitees include Indigenous language teachers, scholars, and university program directors from across Canada.
