Dr. Patrick Dias, another long-term member of DISE, recently passed away. Here are some reflections from Anthony Par茅, retired colleague and previous DISE chair, as well as Patrick's obituary, to honor his passing and service to the department.

Howard Riggs was a dedicated, hard-working professor of math education. His work ethic was a product of his Prairie upbringing and his deep commitment to his students. He was hired by 不良研究所 to teach social studies, but was pressed into service as a math educator in the Department of Elementary Education, one of the units that eventually morphed into DISE.

As a new initiative of the Faculty of Education, Dean Vivek Venkatesh recently launched the Dean's Speaker Series. This biannual series is expected to host prominent guest speakers on relatable topics that span the Faculty's departments and hosted by the Dean as a free event for academics, students, staff, and invited guests.

McCall MacBain Scholar (2023), Mohit Kumar, is an M.A.听Educational Leadership student in the Department of Integrated Studies in Education (DISE). He is working to devise curricula for Eklavyas (have-nots), for primary school students which aims to catalyze quality education and larger behavioral changes regarding learning, educational awareness, and opportunities.

Professor Paul Zanazanian from the Department of Integrated Studies in Education is very pleased to announce the publication of his new book and the release of his new podcast series.
Paul's new book, , published by University of Toronto Press (2025), introduces a novel approach to examining how people construct and employ historical knowledge for navigating their daily lives.

DISE faculty members Dr. Michael Lipset and Dr. Bronwen Low, along with Dr. Habib Siam (DISE, 鈥17), are piloting two recording arts high school re-engagement programs in the Winter of 2025, in collaboration with community leaders, Education MA student听Mohit Kumar and BEd student Marcus Pavico. Studio4 MTL is a French secondary education program for young people in Montreal who have been pushed and kicked out of the traditional school system.
