We decided to write this post because as we communicate with dozens of applicants every day, many candidates ask us to fully pre-assess their suitability for the MBA program.
The truth is (and you may hear this a lot from many admissions officers) that the admissions process is very holistic, which means that your file will depend on more than just your CV, your grades and other documents that you can provide us at this time.
We can tell you how your grades and GMAT scores compare to our average and we can tell you genuinely what we think of your individual profile, but we cannot fully predict what kind of candidates you will be competing with or how well you will do on the essay questions or the interview.
We also cannot predict what your work references will say about your skills and how that will compare to other competitive candidates. Therefore, we cannot give you a full pre-assessment. This being said, in lieu of a pre-assessment, we recommend you to follow these steps.
1. Take a look at our full admissions requirements.
It will already tell you a lot about what kind of candidate we recruit. Please note that we do not offer any waivers of GMAT/GRE.
2. Take a look at our class profile.
See how your profile compares, from an academic and professional point of view. Again, there is much more than scores to determine your chances of admissions but this should help.
3. Check out LinkedIn profiles.
Browse current students and alumni and see what summer internships or full-time placements they find. That will give you information on the type of placements the school gives access to and the location of the school's alumni, post-graduation.
4. Research the companies and roles that you are interested in through search engines.
Compare the required skills with your own skills. Learn about what companies in Canada are looking for to prepare yourself adequately for the interview and eventually, the job search.
5. Get in touch with our student ambassadors.
Our student ambassadors can help you learn more about life in Canada, the ²»Á¼Ñо¿Ëù fit and to assess whether you can see yourself as part of our community. The #DesautelsFamily is very unique, so don't hesitate to talk to as many ambassadors and alumni as you can.
6. Research our website and get in touch with our recruitment team to introduce yourself.
The one-to-one meetings or personalized consultations are the perfect opportunity to ask questions for which you may not have answers to online. Remember: the MBA is a commitment so make sure that you base your decision on more than just rankings. The admissions process is a mutual relationship after all:Â we want to know that not only you are the right candidate for our cohort but that we also are the right school for you!Â
