²»Á¼Ñо¿Ëù to award honorary degree to Monique Leroux for trailblazing ethical leadership and community engagement
²»Á¼Ñо¿Ëù will confer an honorary degree — the highest order it can bestow — upon Monique Leroux as part of its Spring 2024 Convocation ceremonies, recognizing her exceptional contributions to the business world and her advocacy for corporate social responsibility. Leroux, a distinguished Canadian business leader with a career spanning finance, insurance, and cooperative sectors, has been a trailblazer in promoting ethical leadership and community engagement. She will be awarded a Doctor of Laws, honoris causa (LL.D.) from the ²»Á¼Ñо¿Ëù Desautels Faculty of Management on Wednesday, May 29, 2024.
The ceremony will celebrate Leroux's achievements, including her historic role as the first woman to lead a major Canadian financial institution. During her tenure as Chair of the Board, President, and Chief Executive Officer of Desjardins Group from 2008 to 2016, Leroux demonstrated a commitment to sustainable business practices and inclusive growth strategies.
In addition to her corporate leadership, Leroux has been actively involved in philanthropy, serving on the boards of various organizations dedicated to arts, education, and youth empowerment. Her contributions to advancing ethical business practices and fostering social change have earned her recognition as a role model for future generations of leaders.
