Terry Jackson recognized for exceptional volunteerism
Desautels alumnus and former International Faculty Advisory Board member Terry Jackson (BCom鈥69) received the Sovereign鈥檚 Medal for Volunteers on September 24. Presented by the Governor General of Canada, the award honors the exceptional volunteer achievements of Canadians in a wide range of fields.
鈥淚鈥檓 just honoured and delighted to receive this. Being recognized for the work that you do is very nice,鈥 said Jackson.

MBA alumnus new Bombardier COO
Effective September 15, 2018, Danny Di Perna (MBA鈥97) will take on the role of Chief Operating Officer 鈥 Aerospace at Bombardier.
In this new position, Di Perna will report directly to Alain Bellemare, President and Chief Executive Officer, Bombardier Inc. and will be responsible for leading the company鈥檚 aerospace engineering, procurement and transformation functions.

Announcement of Knight Therapeutics CFO resignation
Knight Therapeutics has announced the resignation of its chief financial officer, as the company鈥檚 president and Desautels International Faculty Advisory Board member, Samira Sakhia (BCom鈥90, DPA鈥94, MBA鈥01), takes on the additional responsibility of CFO.
In doing so, Sakhia will leverage her 14 years of prior experience as CFO for Paladin Labs Inc.

Aldo Bensadoun and the company he turned into a big-league player
Aldo Bensadoun (BCom鈥64) founded Aldo Shoes as a Le Ch芒teau exclusive in 1972, then opened the first standalone ALDO store in 1987. Today, the ALDO Group is a major player in the shoe field, with locations in 95 countries. Throughout, Mr. Bensadoun has maintained an interest in corporate culture as an engine for doing good.
Montreal shoe giant ALDO agrees to buy the shoes and accessories part of the Camuto Group鈥檚 business
A news release at canadianinsider.com reveals that Montreal-based footwear giant ALDO is set to buy the shoes and accessories side of the Camuto Group. The deal plays nicely into ALDO鈥檚 expansion efforts and frees up Camuto to concentrate on its apparel unit.
Bombardier claims that rough times are in the past
It鈥檚 been a rough ride for Bombardier鈥檚 management, workforce, and stock prices; but VP Investor relations Patrick Ghoche says that the company has navigated through the worst of it and is now delivering on its plan to be at the break-even point by late next year.
