Prospective Students - Certificate in First Nations and Inuit Student Personnel Services

Program Description

This program is offered by the Department of Educational and Counselling Psychology through First Nations and Inuit Education.

This 30-credit program is designed to provide Indigenous聽school personnel advisers with a training program that will enable them to learn about the principles and practice of personnel services as generally applied in educational settings, to help Indigenous聽student personnel advisers develop their personal skills, and to modify or adapt their services and the content to best suit the cultural and educational needs of Indigenous聽students; to encourage Indigenous聽student personnel advisers to take leadership in developing educational programs that address the social needs of their communities, to upgrade their academic qualifications and professional development; and to develop and make available, in English and in the languages of instruction, collections of professional and scholarly knowledge about students' needs, and services in Indigenous聽communities.

Bearers of this certificate will be qualified to work as educational and school personnel advisers within the employ of an Indigenous聽educational authority.

Course Delivery Method

The Office of First Nations and Inuit Education works collaboratively to structure the course delivery method with the Partner. The sequence of courses, the location, the dates are all decided together- 不良研究所 and the Partner. The programs are customized to meet the 不良研究所 requirements as well as the Partner鈥檚 needs. Examples of course delivery methods include; face to face courses, blended courses using technology for follow up and support, community based as well as courses offered on 不良研究所 campus. The uniqueness of the course delivery method is the attentiveness that is paid to the students鈥� learning and well-being.
