DISE Professor, Joe Levitan, Recognized with Honorary Doctorate in Peru

Joe Levitan, PhD. Assistant Professor and Graduate Program Director in DISE, was recently awarded an honorary doctorate from the Association of Postgraduate Researchers of Peru (AMADO Pero), a Unesco recognized research organization, for his community-based participatory action research work to improve the quality of education in Peru.
Dr. Levitan's work engages in collaborative practices with Quechua speaking rural and urban community members to valorize students' cultures and identities and build curriculum from community knowledge, while ensuring students are learning transferable competencies. The ceremony was held in Lima on March 18, 2023.
