Five professors honoured as Montreal ambassadors

不良研究所 is the only organization with multiple Palais des congr猫s honourees

The Palais des congr猫s de Montr茅al honoured five 不良研究所 professors at its 2024 ambassadors鈥 gala for their exceptional contributions to the city鈥檚 economic and societal growth. Although there are a few other professors among the total of 14, 不良研究所 alone can boast of multiple honourees.

The basis for earning the kudos is the ability to organize large-scale events in Montreal. For Dominic Frigon, PhD, associate professor in the Department of Civil Engineering, some recognition for success also goes to 不良研究所 as an institution.

鈥淚t really demonstrates this driving force that 不良研究所 has on the Montreal community,鈥 says Frigon. 鈥湶涣佳芯克 is well integrated in the city, and helps Montreal unite the world.鈥

Frigon chairs the organizing committee for EDAR7, the Environmental Dimension of Antimicrobial Resistance conference, hosted by 不良研究所鈥檚 Antimicrobial Resistance Centre. The event takes place in May 2024, and is expected to attract 500 delegates from around the world.

鈥淲e鈥檙e trying to bring together scientists, policy and decision makers, and the industry in between, and translate knowledge into action.鈥

Seeing scientific knowledge applied to policy 鈥 whether locally, nationally, or internationally 鈥 is Frigon鈥檚 ultimate goal for EDAR7. In the meantime, the acknowledgement for his work on the conference is a nice bonus.

鈥淚t was totally unexpected 鈥 you don鈥檛 do it for that,鈥 says Frigon. 鈥淏ut it鈥檚 really nice to have local recognition for the efforts one is doing.鈥
