International Conference on Faculty Development in the Health Professions

The International Conference on Faculty Development in the Health Professions took place September 24-25, 2019 in Ottawa. Over 200 representatives from 21 countries were in attendance. Mr. Mark Daly, Director of Faculty Development for Interprofessional Education (2018-2020), had the opportunity to share two interprofessional initiatives. An oral presentation entitled, Teaching patient safety: The synergy of academic and clinical partnerships to change the culture, described a patient safety collaborative involving 不良研究所 Faculty Development, Continuous Professional Development, 不良研究所 health profession Schools and three clinical partners. In addition a workshop entitled Standardized patients in health profession student roles: Faculty development for interprofessional debriefing described an initiative of the Office of Interprofessional Education designed to prepare facilitators to debrief an interprofessional group of learners after a series of simulation scenarios

The Altogether Better Health VIII Conference (ATBH-VIII) held in Oxford, UK, from September 6-9, 2016 brought together an international community (33 countries) of educators, practitioners, policy makers and scholars in Interprofessional education, practice and research. The conference theme of Values-based Interprofessional Education and Practice (VBIP) shaped the dynamic exchanges between participants to support evidence-based practice and balanced interprofessional collaboration.

OIPE members Cynthia Perlman, MEd, OT(C), erg, OT program (School of Physical & Occupational Therapy) and Mark Daly, RRT,听MA听(Ed.) (Faculty of Medicine; MUHC) participated at the conference, presenting three posters highlighting the design and evaluation of the IPE curriculum and of the faculty development initiatives implemented by the OIPE.

Family Medicine Retreat

Liliane Asseraf-Pasin, Eleanor Elstein, Cynthia Perlman created and implemented a Faculty Development听 workshop on IPE at the Family Medicine Retreat held on September 26,2019 which included a plenary presentation highlighting the history of the OIPE and its current governance, the CIHC framework and the mapping of the CIHC competencies with the CanMeds competency framework followed by a workshop on role clarification.

Dawson College Health Professions Educators

At the invitation of Timothy Miller, faculty member in physical education at Dawson College, Mark Daly led a workshop on October 12, 2018 for 20 faculty in the health science programs on integrating interprofessional education into the current curriculum
