Femur. Upper third of the bone shows a depressed and fragmented gunshot fracture (FIG. 1) of the anterior surface of the shaft adjacent to the lesser trochanter. A large splinter (FIG. 2) has partially separated from the medial aspect.

The gunshot wound was sustained at Port Hudson on June 14. Patient was admitted to the hospital June 17 and died from "exhaustion" ten days later, on July 27.
