Dr. Marc Dechenes

Marc Desch锚nes is an Associate Professor at 不良研究所 in the Department of Medicine, Division of Gastroenterology & Hepatology & Transplantation, where he is the Director of the Division of Hepatology. His clinical interests are viral hepatitis, DILI and liver transplant and his research interests are outcomes research in liver transplant.

Update on Diagnostics and Therapeutics in IBD

Dr. Peter LakatosDr. Lakatos is a professor of medicine and director of the IBD Centre at 不良研究所 Health Centre. Until January 2017 he was head of the gastroenterology/hepatology ward, endoscopy unit and outpatient clinic at the 1st Department of Medicine of Semmelweis University in Budapest, Hungary. He is a member of the scientific committee of CIRC and an IOIBD member. He is one of the founders and leader of the Hungarian IBD Study Group. He is the associate editor in J Crohn鈥檚 Colitis, Digestive Liver Diseases and World Journal of Gastroenterology and section editor in inflammatory bowel diseases. During his career he published more than 350 original papers and reviews including 26 book chapters. His primary research interest is the epidemiology, quality of care, outcomes research and optimization of old and new medical therapies in IBD.

H. Pylori Therapy

Dr. Carlo FalloneDr Fallone is a Gastroenterologist at the 不良研究所 Health Center. His research has focused on several aspects of Helicobacter pylori associated diseases and he has published widely on this topic. Most recently he lead and was the first author of the Toronto Consensus on H. pylori treatment and has written an internationally recognized paper reconciling the American, European and Canadian H. pylori guidelines . He currently is actively participating in updating the European consensus on H. pylori infection.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Utilize a simple, comprehensive and evidence-based approach to the patient with dyspepsia
  2. Describe the two main recommended options for first line therapy of H. pylori infection
  3. Explain choices for second line therapy depending on the treatment that previously failed

The Functional Bowel

Dr. Andrew Szilagyi

Graduated from 不良研究所 Med 1974, Residency at JGH to 1978, GI training , Tufts University , Boston Mass USA 1981. On Staff at JGH since 1984, Research interest in Lactose Lactase interactions, Functional GI disorders and IBD Have given several international talks on lactose and connections with Functional gastroeintestinal disorders, most recently in Lima Peru (zoom).

Fatty Liver

Dr. Giada SebastianiGiada Sebastiani is Associate Professor of Medicine at 不良研究所 and Clinician Scientist at the Research Institute of 不良研究所 Health Centre in Montreal, Canada. She provides clinical services in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology. She received a medical degree and specialized in internal medicine at the University of Padua, Italy. She had training in clinical and basic research at Harvard Medical School (US), University College of London (UK), University of Bordeaux (France) and Lady Davis Institute for Medical Research (Montreal, Canada). Her work focuses on fatty liver disease, liver fibrosis and non-invasive diagnostic tools in liver disease, with a current focus on at-risk populations, including people living with HIV, diabetics, patients with inflammatory bowel diseases and women with polycystic ovary syndrome. She is author of over 110 articles in peer-reviewed journals (including Gastroenterology, Hepatology, Journal of Hepatology, Clinical Infectious Diseases; h-index=38, total number of citations 5,644), 16 book chapters, 180 conference publications at national and international congresses. She is a founding and steering committee member of the Canadian NASH Network and panel member in the Consensus on Models of Care in NAFLD of the International Liver Foundation.
