    Thyroid Nodules: What to do and when?

Dr. Marco MascarellaDr. Marco Mascarella received his medical degree from 不良研究所 and later completed his otolaryngology residency training at 不良研究所 in 2020. During that time, he completed a Master鈥檚 degree in Epidemiology. Following his residency, Dr. Mascarella completed a fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in head and neck oncology with microvascular reconstruction. He will be joining the Department of Otolaryngology at 不良研究所 with a clinical practice at the 不良研究所 Health Centre and Jewish General Hospital and he will also be appointed as a research investigator.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Be familiar with the prevalence of thyroid nodules in the general population and associated risk of malignancy
  2. Understand the TI-RADS classification and when to biopsy a thyroid nodule
  3. Recognize the different treatment modalities available for benign thyroid nodules with associated symptoms

    Otitis and Tonsillitis in Children

Dr. Tobial McHugh

Dr. McHugh is a clinician-scientist and associate professor of Otolaryngology and Pediatric Surgery at the MCH. He is fellowship trained in pediatric OTLHNS and rhinology/anterior skull base surgery, and is using this expertise to establish a pediatric multidisciplinary program for managing anterior skull base pathologies.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Understand the difference between AOM and OME
  2. Review guidelines and identify appropriate antibiotic treatment for AOM including considerations for age and treatment duration
  3. Discuss guidelines for managing patients with OME
  4. Understand surgical indications of tympanostomy tubes for otitis media
