MISC鈥檚 vision is to foster a broader and deeper understanding of Canada.
To support the achievement of this vision, MISC鈥檚 mission is to enrich Canadian society in three primary ways. First, by convening conversations about matters that are important to Canadians. Second, by educating and engaging students to be active participants in Canada鈥檚 future. Finally, by promoting interdisciplinary scholarship about Canada.

Public Outreach and Engagement
MISC produces programming and convenes students and members of the public together at a variety of events, including panels, webinars, the Mallory and Eakin Lectures, and at our annual conference. All events are focused on topics that matter to Canadians and are relevant to current public affairs. Learn more about our upcoming events here.
Undergraduate Teaching
MISC offers three distinct but complementary interdisciplinary programs are available to undergraduate students: Canadian Studies, Indigenous Studies and Quebec Studies. As part of the Faculty of Arts, MISC is especially interested in perspectives from the humanities and the social sciences. At the same time, MISC aims to be a hub for people from across campus and beyond who are interested in the study of Canada.
Research and Scholarship
MISC supports a multidisciplinary approach to the study of Canada and fosters the development of networks in the area of Canadian Studies by bringing together students, researchers about the country鈥檚 past, present, and future.
