We're back with a summer鈥檚 worth of great music that鈥檚 been composed, performed, recorded, and mastered by our talented community.

Paradise 鈥 Nicole Arrage

Released June 7, 2020

is the latest single by 2020 remote graduate and includes the talents of Simon Brosseau (BMus鈥20) on keyboard, Carl Mayotte (MMus 鈥19) on bass, Olivier Guertin (BMus鈥19) on drums, Hugo Leclerc (BMus鈥19) on saxophone, and Colin Lloyd (BMus鈥17) on trombone, among others. The single is also recorded by recent Eleanor Stubley Recording Prize winner Omar Miranda (MMus '21) and mastered by Jonathan Kaspy (BMus 鈥17). In this song about young summer love, Nicole鈥檚 passion for soul/pop music is evident via her catchy melody, luminescent vocals and funky horn lines.

Anyone 鈥 Claire Devlin Quartet

Released July 2020

is the debut album of The Quartet. The album includes Roman Munoz (BMus鈥18) on guitar, Mathieu McConnell-Enright (BMus鈥16, MMus鈥18) on bass, John Buck (BMus鈥18) on drums, and Sarah Rossy (BMus鈥17, MMus鈥19) on vocals. The album is also mixed by Schulich鈥檚 No毛lle Byer (MMus鈥20) and mastered by Jonathan Kaspy (BMus 鈥17). Adventurous yet lyrical, Claire Devlin鈥檚 (BMus鈥16, MMus鈥20) strong compositional voice unites this group of talented improvisers into a cohesive unit. Each musician plays with a selfless dedication to her weaving melodies and intricate rhythms.

Songs You Like a Lot 鈥 John Hollenbeck (Flexatonic Records)

Released August 14, 2020

is Prof John Hollenbeck鈥檚 third and final album in the Songs trilogy and differs from its predecessors in that the songs were chosen from a long slate of listener-nominated candidates.听The album also includes 鈥淜indness,鈥 an original composition that was premiered and workshopped in a small group version by the 2018-2019 鈥淢cClaudia鈥 combo with Sarah Rossy (BMus鈥17, MMus鈥19), Claire Devlin (BMus鈥16, MMus鈥20), Cole Birney-Stewart (BMus鈥14, MMus鈥19), and David Ryshpan (BMus鈥09, MMus鈥19). In the album Prof. Hollenbeck reunites with longtime collaborators Kate McGarry and Theo Bleckmann, whose sonorous, expressive voices breathe life into every arrangement.

Linearity - Housefly (Kids From The Underground)

Released June 5, 2020

, the debut album of is a collection of songs Cedric de Saint-Rome (BMus 鈥22) has composed since late 2019. In the album, Housefly blends his classical and jazz training with his passion for electronic music production, giving the album a very chill playful vibe. The album also features two rappers on two separate tracks, and his older sister singing on the sixth track, 鈥淗awthorne鈥. Read his recent interview on .

The Great War Sextet: Canadian War Poetry with Trombone and Strings

Released June 12, 2020

features original compositions by Benjamin Sajo (MMus 鈥13) and performances by Felix Del Tredici (LMus 鈥13), Marianne Di Tomaso (GDip 鈥20), and Jake Klinkenborg (MMus 鈥17), among others. Funded by the Ontario Arts Council, the album sets WWI poetry to original music, including poems and rare verses by John McCrae, W.W.E. Ross, H. Smalley Sarson, William H. Ogilvie, Bernard Freeman Trotter, and Adelard Audette.

is faculty member Patrick Kearney鈥檚 5th recording and is comprised of works by living composers, including Montrealers Harry Stafylakis (BMus 鈥10), Patrick Kearney himself, and former 不良研究所 Professor Denis Gougeon.
