Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Anti-Racism Standing Committee

The Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Anti-Racism Standing Committee (EDIAR-SC) provides direction, support, and oversight for the School鈥檚 work to become more diverse, equitable, inclusive and anti-racist through its policies, practices and programs. The committee plays an active role in regularly communicating progress in this work to the broader community.聽

Membership on the committee will include representatives from all stakeholder groups including faculty, staff, students, and alumni.

Ananya Tina Banerjee, committee lead

Assistant professor, Department of Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Occupation Health Contact Prof. Bannerjee Prof. Bannerjee joined the School in 2020 and has been active on the EDIAR front establishing a strong program of community-based research on health equity and developing a dedicated course on racism and health. She played a leadership role in the EDIAR working group and organized a joint convening on anti-racism with Universit茅 de Montreal in June 2021.

Dedicated to serving racialized communities, Prof. Bannerjee鈥檚 interdisciplinary research has an emphasis on community-based participation, which is grounded in collaboration and partnership with the communities she works with. Her research questions are community-defined problems in the context of health equity and are co-funded by the CIHR (Canadian Institute of Health Research), SSHRC (Social Science & Humanities Research Council), and the Public Health Agency of Canada.

Prof. Bannerjee sits on The Lancet鈥檚 International Advisory Board for Racial Inequalities.
