TISED is pleased to announce a call for the ‘John M. Bishop and family Faculty Scholar’ award. This award was established through a gift to the Faculty of Engineering from alumnus John M. Bishop (B. Eng 1947) and his family to recognize and support research activities of a professor in the Faculty of Engineering in the area of sustainability in engineering and design, over a three-year term.ÌýÌýThe Scholar will work with TISED to provide leadership in enhancing research, teaching and outreach activities in sustainability for engineering and design in the Faculty of Engineering (i.e. lead proposals and presentations for teaching and research, lead and/or participate in TISED events seminars and workshops).

To apply for theÌýJohn M. Bishop and family Faculty Scholar award, candidates are invited to submit the following materials as a single PDF file:Ìý
- General applicant information including, name, rank and department/school as well as the title of the proposed research project;
- A two-page (max) statement of interest, including the following:
- Brief summary of current research in one or more of TISED’s research theme(s);
- A research plan demonstrating how the award will help reduce society’s dependency on non-renewable resources;
- The relevance of interdisciplinarity to the proposed project.
- Enthusiasm and track-record of teaching, research, and outreach activities of TISED;
- A full academic CV.
Applicants must be TISED full members and a tenure-track faculty member in the Faculty of Engineering, and may hold the rank of Assistant, Associate, or full Professor.
Applications must be received by no later than Monday, March 10, 2025.
