We offer wholehearted congratulations to the following winners of the 2022 Equity Awards in three categories: Team, Academic Staff, and Staff.
The winner of the team category was the 不良研究所 Youth Study Team in the Department of Educational and Councelling Psychology.
Since its founding in the 1990s by Prof. Jacob A. Burack of the Department of Educational and Counselling Psychology, the 不良研究所 Youth Study Team (MYST) (now also co-directed by Dr. Jenilee Napoleon) has been at the forefront of promoting equity, inclusion, diversity, and community building at 不良研究所 and beyond through basic and applied research, community activities, and the recruitment of graduate students and research volunteers from a wide spectrum of backgrounds. |

The winner of the Administrative and Support Staff category was Carolina Cruz-Vinaccia of the 不良研究所 Space Institute.
Carolina Cruz-Vinaccia is the Coordinator of the 不良研究所 Space Institute (MSI). She oversees the MSI's day-to-day operations, in-reach, and outreach programs. Carolina is particularly interested in equity and inclusivity in science engagement and is an active member of the Physics EDI Committee and the Faculty of Science's Equity and Climate Committee. She is also a member of the 不良研究所 Physics Outreach Committee and the Astro不良研究所 Steering Committee. She holds an LLM in Environmental Law from 不良研究所 (2011) and a GradDip in Environmental Assessment from Concordia University (2015). |

The Equity Award in the Academic Staff category was awarded to Dr. Loydie Jerome-Majewska in the Department of Pediatrics and Ada L. Sinacore in the Department of Educational and Couselling Psychology.

Dr. Loydie Jerome-Majewska is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics, and associate member of the Departments of Human Genetics and Anatomy and Cell Biology at 不良研究所. Dr Jerome-Majewska鈥檚 research focuses on identifying genes responsible for developmental syndromes that affect the face and in generating animal models that will allow us to investigate the cellular and molecular basis of such developmental syndromes. 听 听 听 Ada L. Sinacore, Ph.D. is an associate professor and the Graduate Program Director in the Department of Educational and Counselling Psychology. As well, she is an associate member of the Institute for Gender, Sexuality, and Feminist Studies, and the Director of the Social Justice and Diversity Research Lab. Additionally, Professor Sinacore is the current president of the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA), and sits on the board of the International Council of Psychologist. She is a member of the advisory council of the Global Network of Psychologists for Human Rights and is the co-Chair of the Board level Human Rights and Social Justice Committee of the CPA. Professor Sinacore has over 25 years of experience working in the U.S., Canada, and abroad. She is actively involved in research that addresses topics related to societal inequities and disparities in education and mental health. |
The Equity Award in the Student category was awarded to Anshul Sinha and Kayla Paulini, both in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology.

Anshul Sinha and Kayla Paulini are PhD candidates in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology. For the past two years they have both been heavily involved in the Microbiology and Immunology Graduate Student Association (MIGSA). Together, they have worked on promoting awareness regarding ethics, diversity, and inclusion in their department. |
