The Global Brain Consortium聽(GBC) is a diverse network of brain researchers and clinicians committed to achieving improved and more equitable health outcomes worldwide. Led by scientific directors Alan Evans and long time collaborator Pedro Valdes-Sosa, the GBC builds collaborative and dynamic projects across its global web of scientists. With a strong focus on equitable access in brain health and brain research challenges in low- and middle- income countries (LMICs), the GBC aims to reduce disparities in health outcomes.聽
The mission of the GBC is to facilitate multinational collaborative efforts in support of global precision brain health. The GBC aims to foster projects across regions to better advance equitable solutions for global health challenges. These efforts include driving support for open collaborative standards, open-source computational toolkit development, and integration of workflows in open neuroinformatic systems, starting with聽EEG.聽
The GBC's goals are to:聽
- Strengthen the capacity of global health researchers, institutions and systems;聽
- Actively coordinate, broker, partner, mentor and facilitate among global, national and local actors;聽
- Facilitate research collaborations focused on key global health research issues on a broad collaborative and inclusive basis across the globe;聽
- Strengthen a network of connected, neuroscientists in Canada, LMICs and HICs;
- Influence best practices and improve access inequities through research and policy initiatives across high-income countries (HICs) and LMICs.聽
Since 2019, the Global Brain Consortium聽聽gathers stakeholders across the global scientific community to share recent findings, best practices, recommendations, and developments from core GBC Projects.聽聽
