Andre A. Diatta

Assistant professor at the Department of Agronomy, Gaston Berger University, Senegal

In addition to his roles as assistant professor of Agronomy and Coordinator of the University Diploma of Technology in Agroecology at Gaston Berger University (Senegal),聽Andre A. Diatta is also a Research Affiliate in Research and Development at the Ecological Monitoring Center (CSE), and was previously a Postdoctoral Fellow in Agronomy at Kansas State University.

Diatta's research and outreach focus on soil fertility, nutrient management, cropping system diversification, conservation agriculture, and alternative crops. He has published several refereed journal articles, book chapters and technical reports and has engaged in projects based in Senegal with a goal of developing human and institutional capacity in agricultural teaching, research, training, and outreach. Diatta worked with several agriculture and nutrition development programs to promote mung bean adoption across several regions in Senegal to improve nutrition and food security. He is also involved in the "Food for Education and Nutrition" program through Counterpart International, an NGO based in Senegal.

Andre holds M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Crop and Soil Environmental Sciences from Virginia Tech and a MSc. degree (Honours) in Agroforestry from Assane Seck University of Ziguinchor in Senegal.
