What we do
For the past year (2018-2019) we have been focusing on accessibility for patients with limited physical mobility who need to use walkers or wheelchairs to come in for appointments.听We have managed to obtain the removal of the dumpster at the back of the Institute so that this entrance may be used by such patients and we are carrying out a survey to find suggestions and means of improving access.听We are also looking into parking spaces for such patients and patients and family in general. We appreciate the understanding and cooperation of hospital officials in this matter.
The Patient's Committee also coordinates听the Greeting Committee. The Greeting Committee's volunteers greet newly hospitalized patients to answer any questions, and visit them during their stay to provide friendly support. Committee members wear dark blue听coats and offer to help patients in many ways. Patients may also receive visits from Royal Victoria Hospital volunteers.
